Pat Derdenger is a Partner in Steptoe & Johnson LLPs Tax group.  His practice emphasizes federal, state, and local taxation law.  Mr. Derdenger provides advice and representation on income tax matters, employment tax matters, independent contractor/employee issues, responsible officer penalties, information return filing penalties, and excise taxes, including both federal and state fuel excise taxes (motor, aviation and diesel), the transportation excise tax and the communications excise tax.  He also represents his clients in tax controversy matters, at audit, appeals and tax court.

Andy Halaby is a Partner at Snell & Wilmer LLP in Phoenix, AZ.  He is a Co-Chair of Snell & Wilmer’s Ethics Committee and also serves on the State Bar of Arizona’s Conflict Case Committee, which handles disciplinary matters that require investigation and, in some cases, prosecution independent of the State Bar’s regular disciplinary apparatus. He concentrates his practice in intellectual property and commercial litigation, including jury trial representation. His intellectual property litigation experience includes patent, trademark, trade dress, deceptive advertising, and copyright infringement litigation, including matters in the federal district and appellate courts as well as before the United States International Trade Commission.

Janette M. Lohman is a Partner in the St. Louis office of Thompson Coburn LLP and has over twenty years’ experience practicing in all aspects of state and local taxation, including representing clients before state and local taxing authorities in income, sales/use, ad valorem and municipal tax and license fee controversies; preparing sophisticated multi-state tax planning for all tax types and planning for and negotiating expansion/relocation incentives for corporate capital expansions, mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Lohman served as the Director of the Missouri Department of Revenue from 1993 through 1997. Ms. Lohman is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law at the Saint Louis University School of Law and lectures extensively on state and local tax issues before a wide variety of national, regional and local organizations including the Council on State Taxation, Tax Executives Institute, Inc., the American Bar Association and The Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
