SECTION LUNCHEON/PLENARY SESSION (Registration Required)
The Section is pleased to announce that the Janet Spragens Pro Bono Award will be given at the Section Luncheon/Plenary Session which will be on Saturday, January 10th from 12:30pm – 2:00pm at the Sheraton New Orleans. In addition, the current 2008-2009 Nolan Fellows will be recognized and the newly appointed 2009-2010 Nolan Fellows will be announced.
VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX (VITA) ON-SITE TRAINING
The ABA Section of Taxation is pleased to offer “one stop shopping” for all VITA Certification at the 2009 Midyear Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana!
Representatives of the IRS will be present at the meeting to provide hands-on training for members interested in volunteering to prepare individual income tax returns for the 2009 filing season through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Members will be able to obtain their required certifications to become VITA volunteers by taking the online examinations in one or more of the four IRS “Link & Learn” modules, i.e., Basic, Wage Earner, Pension Earner and Military. All training is free-of-charge to attendees.
