A panel discussion on the legal and practical issues raised by recent changes to IRC §6694 and Circular 230 will also be included.

Panel Discussion
New Standards and Higher Penalties for Practitioners Who Give Tax Advice.
In May, Congress amended IRC §6694 to change the standard for imposition of the return preparer penalty to more likely than not from realistic possibility of success, expand the scope of preparers subject to the penalty, and increase the amount of the penalty.  In September, the Department of Treasury proposed similar changes to section 10.34 of Circular 230.  This panel will address the legal and practical problems raised by the new standards as well as the degree of diligence that will be required from return preparers and tax practitioners.

All meeting attendees are invited to attend. The luncheon is a ticketed event and attendees must request a ticket using the Registration and Ticket Purchase Form, which can be accessed by CLICKING HERE.
