Sponsoring Committees: Sales, Exchanges & Basis; Capital Recovery and Leasing
Depreciation of tangible property is often the largest or one of the largest examination items in many industries, including the gaming industry, hotels, commercial offices, restaurant chains, and biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The panel will discuss in detail, using a hypothetical case study, the effects of differences in recovery periods and methods that can result from cost segregation analysis and the re-characterization of real property as personal property or land improvements. The panel includes uniquely experienced representatives from the government, the accounting profession and legal field. At the end of the program, a practitioner will have a good foundation to approach cost segregation issues with confidence.
